Cycling the Digue a la mer, Camargue

Finally the wind has died down, and the day was dry -- perfect weather to cycle.  So we headed south to Stes.-Maries-de-la-mer to cycle along the bike trail to the lighthouse (Phare de la Gacholle).  We were ahead of the crowd today, and only encountered one other cyclist as we rode east.  However, on our return we encountered dozens of cyclists, composed of a variety of ages and a couple of nationalities.

Flamingos are a favorite sight along this trail.  Often, they are busy feeding, beyond the reach of my camera.   The photos below represent my best shots.

These flamingos were swimming, and angle of their necks made them look like swans.

The grey flamingo is a juvenile

They really only look pink when flying

All that cycling builds up an appetite!
