A brief visit to the Place de la Republique

There are several grand buildings along the perimeter of this place, but none is grander than L'eglise de Saint-Trophime (the church of St. Trophime).  The stone carvings around the door are very ornate, and all of the faces on the carvings, and throughout the church depict the face of St. Trophime.

The place is graced by an obelisque.  And today, as I walked through this place several times, I saw workings getting firehoses ready to fill the fountain, and later the fountain was working.
