Web burrfish
The web burrfish is a member of the porcupinefish family. All members of this group have long, defensive spines that stick out especially when the fish inflates.
We see this individual frequently, as we often dive on the site where it lives. The species reaches 10 to 12 inches, but this one is only about 5 or 6 inches long.
Some days, it is very difficult to get ahead of this fish, as it often turns away. All of the false eye spots make finding the real eyes on this fish a challenge.
The bottom photo was taken in front of the fish. The middle photo is a top view of the fish, and the top photo is a side view of the fish.
