For the last couple of weeks, I've been peering inside pink vase sponges, looking for peppermint shrimp. I have regularly seen the same shrimp in the same sponge. But today, diving at a different site, I found 3 pairs of peppermint shrimp, inside pink vase sponges.
Although peppermint shrimp are a cleaning shrimp, I haven't yet seen one cleaning a fish.
The shrimp range from 1 to 1.75 inches, and the sponges were at depths of 35 to 45 feet.
