Graysby

On virtually every dive, we encounter the graysby.  This species is a member of the sea bass family.  They are often perched in or on sponges and corals, and on the bottom, using their pectoral fins to hold them in place.  Occasionally, we encounter them in odd positions, especially in cleaning stations.

These fish were 8 to 10 inches long.  The photos were taken at depths of 35 to 50 feet.
