Trumpetfish

On every dive, we see trumpetfish.  They are voracious predators that look calm and non-threatening, until they strike out to capture a prey.  They often swim in a vertical position, head down.  They also hide behind other fish, in soft corals, and sponges.  Often we see trumpetfish with yellow heads or blue heads, in addition to the more common brown color.

These fish were between 18 and 24 inches long.  The photos were taken from 25 to 40 feet.
