This morning, we drove down to Le Grau du Roi, rented bikes and rode both to Aigues Mortes and Le Grande Motte. After a very cool, sometimes wet, and very windy week (or two), it seems like everyone else had the same idea. While we normally encounter dozens of cyclists on the trails, today there were hundreds. The first day of nice weather, in conjunction with the national holiday yesterday and lots of people taking a four-day weekend, brought lots of people to the beach.
The bike trail to Aigues Mortes was busier than we have ever seen it.
We stopped for cafe in the main square in Aigues Mortes, on the left side of the statue of Saint Louis. The town was full of people, and there was a funeral going on at the church in front of Saint Louis. That brought several funeral vehicles that were parked in the road that was otherwise jammed with pedestrians and people walking their bikes. It was really too congested to photograph.

From there, we rode to Le Grande Motte. Lots of people were on the beach and in the cafes.

We rode back to Le Grau du Roi for lunch. Then rode along the boardwalk back toward the aquarium. Lots of people seemed super happy to be outside.

The route home was occasionally slow, because so many people were being funneled through tiny little traffic circles that also had to accommodate cyclists and pedestrians. But it was an enjoyable day.

I hope that your day was lovely as well.
