Spotted Eagle Ray

This morning, we encountered a spotted eagle ray, that was feeding in sandy rubble at a depth of 15 to 20 feet, twice.  This is one of the biggest fish that we regularly see on our dives here. Its wingspan was between 4 and 5 feet.  They are graceful animals as they soar through the water, and they create clouds of sand when they stop to dig up invertebrates in the sand.

Head contacting the sand.

Wings up as it starts to feed.

Almost obscured by its sand cloud.
Soaring after a meal.
