We can't spend too many days away from the sea, so today, we took a road trip to Cassis. The trip took much longer than we expected, as we had the misfortune of chosing to follow the GPS over our pre-determined route, and voila, there we were heading towards Marseilles instead of Aix. The traffic was horrible, and we didn't even get within 10 miles of Marseilles. Eventually (maybe about 45 minutes later), we were able to rejoin the smart route. Moral of GPS usage: don't follow every route that it suggests. Shortest route mile-wise doesn't account for major city traffic.
Cassis is really a lovely town. Very rocky headlands abruptly ending in the sea. A charming place, with a marine park nearby, but we were unable to take a boat tour of the Calanques, as the wind was too strong, and the tours were cancelled today. Cassis is famous for their wines, and new vineyards were going in all over the place.
