Swimming with a swarm of fish

One of the most abundant fish in Bonaire is the brown chromis.  It is a small (about 4 inches long) member of the damselfish family.  They often swim in large aggregations in the water column, where they feed on zoo-plankton.  When they aren't actively feeding, they can be seen close to the reef, begging to be cleaned at cleaning stations.

These photos were taken at depths of 40 to 50 feet.

Yesterday, these brown chromis were hoping to get cleaned.

Another cleaning station.

Today, the brown chromis were streaming along the reef, up to about 15 feet above the reef.

More fish swarming the reef.
