By river

Bon jour.  This morning, we set out on a river tour of Paris.  The day was overcast but fairly mild.  We saw all the bridges between Ile St. Louis and the Tour Eiffel, from the Seine.  The city is quite lovely from the river, and you can get quite close to lots of important sites in hardly any time.

Our boat, before boarding just below Pont Neuf

Most of the bridges were distinctive in their design or history.  The style of adorning artwork varied from somber to over-the-top fancy (ala Louis XIV).

The river has flooded up to the neck of this statue.

This is as close as we plan to get to the Tour Eiffel (i.e., Eiffel Tower).
