Jardins in Paris

Yesterday we visited the Musee d'Orangerie and the adjacent Jardin de Tuileries, that connect the Place de Concord with the Louvre.  Although there are some nice parts of the garden, many of the grassy areas were marked "keep off". It was filled with tourists. And all the flowers that we saw were hues of purple or pink.

This is as close as we plan to get to the Eiffel Tower, so we had to pose for obligatory photos with the iconic landmark.

Later in the day, I walked from our apartment to the Jardin du Luxembourg.  This more colorful
garden was filled with Parisians and was vibrant because it offered much more to do than the Tuileries garden.  It had a lovely palace to tour, tennis courts, boule courts (like bocce), lots of chairs to sit in the sun around the pond, an apple orchard, and many fine statues. I didn't find the puppet theatre, but it may only operate a couple of days a week.  A lovely park.

Happy Birthday Becky!
