Springtime in Oregon

After a few, very cold and wet weeks, we are starting to see more of the sun.  And just a glimpse of it once in a while is enough to encourage us that milder weather is to come.  I assembled a new raised bed last week, and planted a variety of green things, including snow peas.  After considering all manner of trellises  for the peas, I walked down to the beach with a little hand saw, and came home with an armload of thin, mostly-green, trimmed, tree branches from the trees that have been washed down river and ended up on the beach.  I carved the bottom end of the branches to a point, then planted them in the garden box, and wove cross members through them for the peas tendrils to grab hold of.

I gathered mussels on a recent low spring tide, and looked up so see a pair of bald eagles fly past me.

And of course, fishing is always a consideration around here.  Today, on his first fishing trip of the season, Bori came home with a nice (and quite tasty) lingcod.
