After a winter housed in a warehouse, the boat is back. Last week, we took it out for a little crabbing.
On our way out to drop the crab traps, we passed 5 or 6 juvenile and 3 adult eagles on a sandbar near the bridge. After dropping the traps, we returned to the sandbar but the adults were gone. Five juveniles remained, along with a few seals that were keeping an eye on them.
We also saw several pigeon guillemots with their bright red feet. They were fishing nearby.
The crab traps were frequently loaded with females and juveniles, but we caught a bunch of keeper-sized males as well.
This week, we have been riding our beach bikes to Seal Rock and gathering mussels on our rides.
